I think Eric's eyes missed a digit if his was indeed manufactured in late
80's or early 90's. In fact, Eric, if your serial no. is what you say it is,
you own a IIIa manufactured in 1935! (According to Rogliatti's "Leica-The
First Seventy Years".)
Your number, Blair (again, according to Rogliatti) is a black M6 made in 1991.
My black M6 is from an earlier production run also in 1991 and carries
serial no. 1795783.
