I have a friend who recently inherited a Leica IIIg with a collapsible
50mm Sumicron and never ready case. The body is 891361 and the lens
is 995023. I would classify them as in Ex condition, although I have
little experience at classifying cameras.
He is wondering what they are worth because he is more into stereo
photography than rangefinder photography. I knew that IIIg's were
pricey, but I wasn't prepared for what I found when I checked the
price at: http://www.demon.co.uk/classicscr/login.html
They had two IIIg bodies -- one for 1200 british pounds and one for
1500. They had a collapsible summicron for about 470 british pounds.
These prices seem outrageous to me! Are they correct?
