Your post really hit me where I live Mark. I, too, went to the M6 from a
similar kit of high end poly stuff for the same reasons as you did. The 35/2
Summicron is my main lens (85%) followed by the only other lens for my M6,
i.e. the 90/2.8 Elmarit (most recent version). I am lusting over the 35/1.4
ASPH, however, as the flare proneness of the Summicron is a bother for me
out here in Arizona where we shoot into a lot of sun. The lens is a champ
for all other general shooting, however.
In my case, I had to spring for an R6.2 also. My shooting involves a great
deal of close work with flora and arthropods. In this case the SLR is nearly
a necessity. I have maintained the single lens philosophy for the R so far,
having only the 100/2.8 Macro APO. By dealing with good reputable dealers,
e.g. Chatterton, Tamarkin and Ury, I was able to buy mint to mint- pieces
and not completely break the bank.
