Subject: 35mm sumaron ????

I have a 35mm 3.5 sumaron.  It has a 5cm adapter on back to connect it to my
m4. When It is attached, the 35 framelines do not come up all the way.  I
think it has the wrong size adapter.  This is what it came with when it was
given to me. I know the camera is ok, another 35 works fine.  If the lens
will still function properly, I will be ok because I can simply hold the 35
frame lines  down while shooting.  Otherwise, what adapter should I get?

Out of curiosity, what camera was this lens made for, and is it a good lens,
etc.
