I attended my first LHSA meeting in Arizona last October. Though I was pleased with the accomodations and enjoyed the events, I must say the location of the hotel was a great dissapointment. It was quite a ways from the center of town and on a main street with strip malls and shopping centers. Having never been to Tuscon, I would have thought an location that better repesented the flavor and character of the host city would have been more appropriate. We did rent a car and took an afternoon to drive into town. We went to the city hall area where there were many historical buildings with interesting things to see. Much to our surprise there was the annual Taste of Nations (or something like that) festival going on fthe same weekend -- music, food, people... It was a great opportunity to sample the flavor of the host city. This all occured accross the street of a large downtown chain hotel. If we hadn't rented the car, I would have been to Tuscon and wouldn't have known anymore about it than before. Denver is a great walking town. There is the street mall that goes for 15-20 blocks with mini buses every 5 minutes. Plenty of excellent hotels with things to see and do. Lotsa photo opportunities... In short, I would prefer to be in a part of town that is somewhat representitive of the city's character. Anyway, Those are my thoughts regarding a location, location, location. Regards, George
