I vaguely recall that there are three Russian 500mm's, with the
500/5.6 more known than the 500/6.3. Might be the same basic lens,
but one rated in F-stop (measured at 500/overall diameter) and the
other rated in T(ransmission)-stop (measured at 500/effective
diameter [sans donut]).
Note that there is also a nice 300/4.5 Russian mirror available.
Probably will buy one some time for infrared photography....no
fussing with IR-correction....:-))
Btw Marc, have you successfully mounted one of those on a Leica R
body? Since all these lenses are M42-mount, they officially shouldn't
fit (R-register is larger than M42-register), but slop beyond
infinity and being a tele might compensate for that.
Do *thin* M42->Leica-R adaptors exist at all?
(ie sans optical correction elements)
