It works really well and is much more convenient than a tripod. The monopod would probably be inadequate for my 400 (though I've never tried it) but, for the 200 and 280, it is, as Goldilocks said "just right". BTW, the non-carbon fiber monopod is pretty light and just as compact as it's more extravagant sibling; it cost me about 80 bucks from B&H. All Best, Coery Levenson San Antonio TX
