All the shots ( both lenses ) were taken at f2.8; using my r8s. Slide film was Kodak's E100SW; heavily bracketed in a variety of indirect light. As you may recall, I put the 80 f1.4 up against the 90 f2 in Kennebunkport; comparing the two lenses at f2 apertures in the close up range. I was quite surprised how much better the 80f1.4 performed ( sharpness, in particular ) in the close up range. In any case, I put the slides up in two rows on a light table ( picking the crop of the litter ); my wife, picked out in each & every case, slides from the 80 f1.4 as being sharper than those from the 90 f2.8. I would have gathered, from various sources, that the 90 f2.8 would have performed better in the close-up range; however, my 80 f1.4 really does very well in the close up range at f2 & f2.8 apertures. Quite a pleasant surprise! All of this is in an effort to determine what lenses could be traded off to fill some gaps that I've got in my R line up. I'd really like to get the 19 f2.8 & am seriously considering trading in my R 24 f2.8 & R 90 f2.8 for it. Tom D.
