Studio Still Dept.and had acquired my first Leica from Bill Orme about the time that the studio was finishing "Giant" with James Dean. I had taken photos of Dean in his Porsche & he was as impressed with my Leica IIIf as I was with his 356 Speedster. He loved to race bikes but promise the studio that he wouldn't race his Spyder or Speedster til the "Giant" was finished. The film was finished and Dean was killed the following week-end driving up North to race the Porsche; He never did get his Leica but I got my 356a a few years later for the price of a todays M6 & lens. A few months ago, I started a web site based on the Premier of "Giant". I didn't get very far with only 3 pics but I certainly will dedicate the page to James Dean & his Porsches as he never did get to go to the Premier.
