I suppose in the most technical sense, or possibly by definition, it
is fraudulent. The only reason I can think of that a manufacturer would
offer a non-transferrable warranty is so the potential customer would
be drawn to the new, higher priced product rather than one on the used
market. The manufacturer makes a higher profit.

A transferrable warranty tells me how strongly a manufacturer believes
in the build quality of its product. A non-transferrable one tells me
how strong the manufacturer believes in marketing.

The better the build quality, the less marketing you'll have to do.
The products will speak for themselves. Isn't this how Leica built
its reputation?

(who will still honor the warranty of my 35/2 ASPH to the buyer,
and I feel good about it! :)
