It turns out that Bill and Galen are opening a show next month of EverColor Luminage images. Here's some info I stole from the Mountain Light web site (http://www.mountainlight.com): Join us on December 12, 1998, from 10 am to 4 pm for the public opening of our first EverColor Luminage exhibit at Mountain Light. This two-person show will include over 70 images of nature by Galen Rowell and Bill Atkinson. Bill, who developed the MacIntosh Operating System as well as some of its software, such as Hypercard, has turned his talent into producing the finest ever photographic prints beginning with an image on film and using digital processing instead of an optical enlarger. The results are astounding, with colors, contrast, and detail more true to the original image than ever before. Bill Atkinson is a life-long nature photographer who is finally realizing his potential, thanks to the very techniques that he developed to empower other people's creativity using computers. He is now devoting full time to his nature photography. He and Galen have been working together for a year to produce the images for the show. Galen and Bill will be available from 10 to 2 pm. They will give a special presentation at 1 pm. This is not to be missed!!!! I can highly recommend stopping by the Mountain Light Gallery if you're in the area (Emeryville, near Berkeley, California), either for this show or just to see whatever display they have up. There are directions on the Mountain Light Web site. [I don't have any connection with Mountain Light, except as a fan and a satisfied workshop attendee] g.
