There have been comments from LUG members that theirs were on back order for months. I was just pointing out the availibility of one. A Canadian LUG member contacted me and I gave him the dealer's name. I have seen this dealer get Leica gear before even USA LUG members have been able to buy it. For example he had an R8 winder months before it was readily available in the USA. I assume the same will happen for the R8 motor drive. I think there is limited initial supply when new items are introduced and the dealer network is so large in the USA that the supply is used up very quickly. In Canada we have far fewer dealers. I know most of the Leica dealers I have seen in Canada do not even stock Leica unless they are in a major metropolitan area like Toronto, Montreal, or Vancouver. I imagine when the 90mm APO comes out, the Canadian Leica distributor would have a better chance of getting them than anybody else. If they are manufactured in Canada ,as I have seen mentioned on the LUG, Leica probably just ships directly from the Midland Ontario Raytheon Plant to the US and Canadian distributors to save duties and the like. We will have to wait and see on this.
