Many of the interiors need a good wide angle lens. Everything in and around Vatican City is very photogenic. Fountains, columns, plazas, cathedrals (inside and out), people, etc. I'm really not an expert on Rome. I have friends that live just outside Rome and when visiting them, we usually spend some time in that part of the city. I personally like photographing here. There are lots of "foreground/background" scenes that work really well with wide angle lenses.
