Much more of a strain to strive to get something meaningful rather than nice. I fundamentally do not believe that 'meaning to the photographer' is the proof of the pudding. The viewer is an integral part of the photographic process. The photographer squeezes life into a picture. It is the viewer that brings the picture back to life. If it is meaningful.
