I've had both, and I'll be honest with you, I couldn't tell the difference! The flash synch is different- the BD is set to '2', the RD to '20', they both synch at 1/25 of a second! Anyway, a true officianado of the Barnack Cameras wouldn't be caught carrying a IIIf and a flash together! Get you a good clean Elmar or collapsible Summicron and you have a primo portable P&S that will 'work fine- last a long time'! Good Luck- they are fun cameras, and you get to see first hand why the Leica marque gained such widespread respect, so early on! Bask in the light!
