As far as I know, R-bodies have been made in Portugal and in Germany. The country of origin may be engraved on the bottom plate or almost-invisibly stamped at the hinge-end of the back. The country doesn't really matter, though. >How much cheaper is a Canadian R4s vs German made? I meet one little-used(!) >Canada-made R4s in price 2500FIM (finland), about 500USD. I wasn't aware of R4s bodies from Canada. I doubt that has much to do with the price. >Does Leicaflex have different bayonet (than R-Leica have) >and own serie of lenses? The Leicaflex bayonet is slightly different than the R-Leica bayonet. All Leicaflex lenses except the very old 21mm f/3.4 will work on R-series bodies, but the 3rd metering cam should be installed to get correct meter readings. In fact the Leicaflex SL bayonet is slightly different from the Leicaflex SL2 bayonet. This is to allow those lenses which protrude more into the mirror chamber to fit the SL2 but not the SL. The SL2's mirror was re-pivoted to allow the mirror to clear these lenses. Most current R-series lenses will work (or can be modified to work) on the Leicaflex cameras and will still fit the R-bodies if you are willing to do without the ROM feature. Doug Herr Sacramento
