It makes that company an assembler. It is likely the Ferrari team meets whatever definition the "motor racing association" rules require for a company to qualify as a "manufacturer" with its own parts and then buys what it is incapable of making from other suppliers. You might post the definition your association uses for "manufacturer" and then we could read it for ourselves to determine whether it has any relevance to the present discussion. Also, does Ferrari today demand better parts and closer tolerance work from its suppliers now than it did 40 years ago or do its designers loosen up the specs so more parts meet the quality control tests? The question of what M-6 parts does Solms manufacture and what parts does it buy still has not been answered. Thank you for your input.
