Many of the photographers I know get much of their info on how to handle
their
prints from these guys.
Archival techniques evolve. This does not devalue famous older prints that
used
older archival techniques. Stiglitz thought throwing out your Hypo was a
ploy by
Kodak to make more money. He used the same gallon of fixer for a year. His
prints have faded accordingly. This just makes them more valuable. I'm sure
if
it was ever properly explained to him how the whole fixing thing works he
would
have mixed up more fresh batches.
