I believe the story was some of the first bodies made at Solms did not have "LEICA" on the front, just an enlarged "M6". I'm sure someone will verify this. Greg Yes, I presently own a silver chrome M6 with this engraving and I have owned a black body thus marked. Both purchased in the mid eighties. Otherwise exactly the same as other M6s, they appear to have no additional value for variant markings...at least I for one use(d) them for taking pictures.
