Just bring your good old ATM card and use it to withdraw cash as you need it. Look on the back of your card: if there is a Plus or a Cirrus symbol on it, you will be able to use it pretty much everywhere in Europe and even the Far East. I have lived in Belgium 4 1/2 years and travelled abroad at least 2-3 times every month in that time; I do not recall ever exchanging money. Either my Belgian Citibank or my U.S. credit union ATM card will always work in the local machines.
