Of course, but it's also extremely unlikely that they'd be able to come anywhere
near Leica's optical quality.  And since the lens makes the camera, a lot of
people might well choose to buy an inexpensive Konica or other M-compatible body
just so that they could save more money to buy Leica lenses.

Features?  How many features does a lens need?

Absolutely, but such people would have never bought Leica M6 bodies, either, so
they have no effect on the situation in question.  That is, they would not be
Leica customers in any case.
