It would be a market test without risk to Solms. If the Hexar cuts into Leica M sales, it's a simple matter to produce a powerful competitor to the Hexar M; or contract to market the Konica under the Leica label with a few changes characteristic of Leica. Meanwhile the Leica M6 family remains inviolate and even remains so should Leica adopt the Konica model. But if sales remain constant for the M6 family, Leica Solms would have an exclusive product that has proved itself against all competition. Solms wins either way. The important thing is to stay cool and be alert to timing. Best, BR
