An M4 can well have been used regularly and kept in tip-top service and still look "mint". An M6 (or any Leica) which has not been used in several years may likely have slow-speeds that are either "off" or hang entirely and should be CLA'd. As to the beauty or smoothness or quality differences between the M4 vs M6, I really haven't paid that much attention. I've never had a breakdown on any of them (yet) and they all make great pictures through the same superb Leica lenses, which is all I expect of them. DT
