I've been using this stuff for two years (the gold salon packaging) and it
consistently stains.

Mark,

Like Rob, I have the same experience with
Forte papers. The stains will be obvious
when tone. The quality, you already mentioned,
inconsistent. I've just finished with one pack
of 8x10. First 7 to 8 pieces were printed and
sel. tone quite nicely. Subsequent ones were
nightmares. I though I bought coldtone paper
but turn out after the first few prints, the
rest were all quite yellowish (warm or something???).
I even wanted to throw out when the print was sink in
selenium toner with really really brown tone in
just 1.5 mins. The toner was 1:10. In fact, I
was expecting a cold black blue tone rather than
brown. Each paper in a pack seems to vary in
performance. Just like lucky draw! :~( As I said,
only the first 7 to 8 prints delivered the result
I expected.

Will proceed with the second pack. If it still
turn out the same. I will choose to walk away.

K.K.

Rob,

I've never noticed any staining problems with the Forte VC paper
in
Ilford
Universal or Edwal.
I do find it a pain to use sometimes compared to other
papers...very
slow,
inconsistent quality, but
it gives a beautiful chocolate brown when toned in a strong
selenium
solution. By uneven do you mean the split-toned look? It's very
easily
split-toned, but with a strong dilution and increased time in
the toner
I
can get a fully toned image.
