The various winder versions are: Winder M4-2 before serial n. 10350 - single shot only, battery compartment can be attached using an extension lead for cold weather shooting. No tripod socket. Stay away from this unit as it has a great deal of problems Winder M4-2 serial no. 10350 and above - continuous shooting possible (only with 1/60 and up) and the same battery housing as above. This new mechanism is the used in all the recent winders Winder M4-P and M -new design of battery housing cannot be attached via a cable but now has a tripod socket. The winder is officially out of production and stocks are thin on the ground. The former Canadian Leica distributor told me they were working on a new winder design using the latest micro-motors but he told me not to hold my breath. If anyone has a noisy winder (clunks or clanks), have a look at this site: http://www2.bitstream.net/~campbell/ Cheers John Collier > From: "Joan & Ken Lee" <klee16@home.com> > > I bought a used Leica Winder M last week.
