Subject: [Leica] 24 mm

Nice to hear so much positive comment about the 24/2.8, which is also my
favourite lens. I find using the accessory viewfinder very relaxing as
refocussing isn't such an issue with a real wideangle like this one. Only
two dislikes: 1 - you can't mount anything other than Leica's crazily
expensive filters under the lens hood; 2 - the closest focus is not very
close, but of course that's true of all (non-DR) leica M lenses and is
probably due to the travel limit of the rangefinder? It's a pity not to be
able really exploit the potential of the lens close up. But the image
quality is fantastic and it handles very nicely.
I'd be interesed to hear from anyone with experience using the Tri-Elmar.
At the moment I'm using the 24 and the 35/1.4. The T-E seems like it would
complement the 24 very nicely on a second body. How is it in use? I've
tried one and the focus length selector ring didn't feel very positive, but
maybe it needs working in?
By the way - I don't live in Paradise, just nearby... And anyone who wants
to visit is welcome - that means you, Hans.
Rob.
