Subject: [Leica] Polarising filters?

All the discussion of the relative merits of filters here has set me
thinking. I realise that I have never used a filter with my Leica and would
like to ask how best to use a polarising filter with a rangefinder? Do you
look through the filter unmounted, note the position, then screw it on and
position it? ...or is there a better way?
