Yes, I did this with a 35 F3.5 Summaron once to work on my M4.  You need to
remove just a very small amount with a jeweler's file.  Take a few swipes
and try it on the camera.  Keep doing it until the 35mm frame pops up.

Oops, asleep at the wheel again. As you well know, you need to remove
material from the lens mount not add!!! It is when you are adapting the
early 28mm lenses (or CLE 28) that you need to add material. Sorry about
that :-(. It would not be that difficult, or expensive, to have the
modification done.
