I guess it depends on what you mean by "high magnification".  Standard
enlarger lenses are optimized for about 1:10.  In this range they should do
quite well, but I wouldn't call this "high magnification".  If you try and
do 1:1, you will likely run into trouble.   For higher magnifications there
are lenses such as the Apo-Rodogon D series.
