Yesterday I took my friend Dave Rodgers to Helmers (a Portland institution since 1927 who've known me since 1975) to look at the Tilley's and i almost bought a Stetson. A brown one. Today i'm going in there to pick it up. $108 if i recall. Now that's a real hat! I find the Tilley's practical for city life. I'm not a country guy. Your not going see me climbing into a small plane with pontoons. I'll not be about to crumble this Stetson and put it in my pocket. And it may blow off in the wind and need re-blocking. May look like an old movie lover i don't know that would place me. It's a real hat. We'll see which wins out the Stetson or the Tilley's on my head. any bets?
