If you achieve the same magnification by moving your feet, then the DOF
will be the same.

But the context here is cropping a wideangle shot to give the same
magnification as a tele (while keeping the camera-subject distance and
f-stop the same). In this case the cropped shot will have a greater DOF.

One of the reasons I don't use my digital camera (Olympus C2000Z) for
street shooting is because of its unseemly DOF, even at tele settings.
The main reason is that 'hope it fires before I get old' feeling after
clicking the shutter.

Oh, and I've got a 28 Elmarit now (3rd generation Canadian). I've run a
couple of films through it, I'll put some pictures up at the weekend.
