In fact they recommend the follwoing method to save water: Fill the tank. Invert five times and empty. Fill the tank again. Invert ten times and empty. Fill the tank again. Invert twenty times and empty. Dry. I use a Nova power washer which fills from the bottom and you just put the reels in to wash the film. It churns the water through from bottom to top and I have found ten minutes to be enough. I don;t think a visual inspection would tell you anything, although others may correct me there.
