For example week 27s shot were all taken last Sunday. I got through 5 rolls of film. My normal procedure is to scan the films and then look at what's there and select the 'possibles'. These are basically the shots that I feel have some (any?) merit. For week 27 there were 18 possibles. I knew when I was doing this initial edit that one of the shots of the girls would be the PAW - sometime this happens, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes the PAW has been obvious when the shutter was pressed. From the 18 'finalists' I then started deleting shots. Of these 18 about 50% could be got rid of without too much difficulty. Then the really hard work began of selecting the final 4. This is the _really_ difficult part where an independent voice would be sooo useful. In my case, I have Sandy Carter who with her editing comments can almost put me on the floor in tears with her hard nose truthful editing! Trust me, sometimes I want to almost choke her.... but I can't do that, simply because she's one of the best photo editors I know. She can make you think you're the king one day and rip you assunder the next, but damn she's good and 99.99999% of the time right. So that makes her almost a perfect photo editor. And when we've been on an assignment together, OH jeeeeeessssus! She's even worse, because she remembers all the ithings I should've taken and didn't, or did it poorly in her eyes. So Steve my friend the next time you have two beautiful picture moments like this... post both as the main ..... then let the gals and guys sort it out for themselves. ;-) That ,or I'll send Sandy over to Paris to twist yer tail! ;-) ted - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
