Graham, Garrison Keillor is an American writer who became popular with his monologues on National Public Radio (the BBC affiliate in the U.S. ;-)) during the 1970s and 80s, describing life in a mythical town in Minnesota, Lake Wobegon, where "all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average." The show was called "A Prairie Home Companion" and I enjoyed listening to him very much. His stories evoke the feeling of a semi-idyllic, small town in the Midwest very well. There are several books, one I have is "Leaving Home: A Collection of Lake Wobegon Stories", Viking Penguin 1987. Other collections include "Lake Wobegon Days" and "Happy to Be Here" plus others that I may not know about.
