If pieces are always coming off, or a lot is missing, you can buy the M6 covering material from Leica. A good search of the archives should turn up posts from people using the Leica materials. I think there are other sources of covering materials but don't have any links. If it's a small flake and not spreading it can be repaired. Don Goldberg does these repairs along with doing CLAs. I don't know if Sherry Krauter repairs the vulcanite but she does CLAs. Two of the best in the business. If you send it to them send the lens too.
