The 5700 and 5000 are two different beasts altogether, IMHO. The 5000 is
much more "M like" and gives you a reasonably fast 28mm-85mm lens. Not many
other digitals are offering you a useful 28mm. At 2/3 the size of a M6, it
fits in your hand. I put a Leica strap on mine and some black tape on the
Nikon logo :-)...yes, it's a digicam good enough for such honors.

Now the he 5700 is a marketing case study of trying to be all things to all
people - 35mm to 280mm zoom. Now that's just ridiculous. Maybe it's useful
when you go to the Hoover Dam or on that 14 day all inclusive safari you've
always dreamed of.
