I use Tri-X almost exclusively, and almost always rate it at 800, unless I'm going to be out-of-doors on a bright day. I don't develop my own film, but the place that does it develops it Xtol, and get great results. One of these days I am actually going to spring for a used single reel tank, some plastic bottles, and fool around with Acufine, which I used a zillion years ago to push tri-X. If I remember correctly Jim Marshall, rock 'n roll shooter, shoots tri-x at 800 almost exclusively and has it developed in Acufine. Anyway, other folks on the list can tell you about the other, faster films...the Fuji 1600 , Delta 3200, and the 3200 TMax...I have to say I haven't had geat luck with any of them, but that probably comes from not doing my own processing and working out my own routines. I think Mark Rabiner has had a fair amount to say about the 1600 Fuji... B. I appreciate your comment, as I feel you are a master at this sort of thing..... as you can see it was pretty hard to tame the harsh hospital light....Normally I like the feel of the Noc...wurst, but here it was struggling a bit with the light. Oh...and what B&W film would you choose, if you were to shoot at about 800 and develop at rated 400 asa...? Any other thoughts about the best fast B&W film to use for this kind of work?
