I use a 90 elmarit with a 0.58 body and it focuses fine - usually. When I tend to have problems with soft pictures is in low light, so I'm shooting wide open and at low shutter speeds - so the softness could be due to either camera shake or inaccurate focusing or (or both). The 1.25x magnifier does help and is a useful accessory, especially on the 0.58 body.
