This seems trivial to say, but consider that the IC's that run these cameras are only made in production batches, and when they are gone there can be no more made..... ditto motors, etc. The advantage in mechanical parts is that if you wanted, you could still make a Sull series Leica from a block of brass, steel and some cotton. Even 500 years from now. You can not do that with electronics. This is not to say that your Cosina can not be fixed in a few years, just that your IIIC from 1940, 62 years old, can still be repaired. Typically, these comsumer goods are thought of as replaceable, not repairable...... Caveat Emptor.
