It seems more convenient to use the external meter and I have more confidence in it. At times I have found that I left my M6ttl on a shutter speed and the battery(s) have become dead, so I always have my external meter with me. Also, I am not used to the red indicators in the viewfinder, since, I frequently use my other Leicas which do not have a meter in the viewfinder. If I used my M6ttl exclusively, I might be more inclined to rely on the ttl meter. I prefer manual exposure and would not be a good candidate for an M7 at this time. I used AE with SLRs for a number of years.
