It does need a couple specialized tools. If optical adjustment is needed, a lot of specialized tools to get it right. It does need to know which screws to turn, how much to turn them, what lubricants to use (or not to use). But it isn't magic. Mortals can learn it. And guess what - there are sources of information, like the web site, like the repair manuals!
