Despite the fact that it is such a long time, Skåne to this day has its own identity and a dialect which is closer to Danish than, say, the Stockholm variety. Now of course the Danes are taking it back slowly thanks to the new bridge between Copenhagen and Malmö which makes it much easier to get back and forth and will slowly make Malmö into a suburb of Copenhagen ;-) Incidentally, there is actually also a Skåne flag, which is a cross between the Swedish flag (yellow cross on blue background) and the Danish one (white cross on red background).
