So some time in early January I will post weeks 51, 52 and 1, hopefully I will have enough light in Denmark to actually take a picture ;-) This week's crop has a Christmas theme. First, I spotted this Santa outside a lingerie shop in the mall under Zurich's main station. If I ever encounter one dressed like this, I will happily sit in his (or rather her) lap, or perhaps vice versa: http://www.wajsman.com/2002_50.jpg (Voigtlander Bessa R2, 35mm Summilux ASPH, Fuji Press 800) The alternates are in an entirely different vein. On one of the squares off Zurich's main shopping street, Bahnhofstrasse, there is a "singing Christmas tree" every December. It is really a wooden structure covered with branches, able to accomodate lots of singing children. Every evening until the 22nd a different school from the area performs, and last week it was the turn of the Inter-Community School, which my children attend. My daughter (3rd grade) participated, and of course I was there with my camera. First, the children and teachers had to get into their outfits in a hotel a few hundred metres from the tree. Here are the teachers struggling with their electric Santa hats: http://www.wajsman.com/2002_50alt1.jpg My daughter in her outfit: http://www.wajsman.com/2002_50alt2.jpg Now everyone is ready to walk to the tree. Of course I focused on my daughter, but it is actually the girl in the foreground who makes this picture: http://www.wajsman.com/2002_50alt3.jpg Now we're there and the children enter the tree: http://www.wajsman.com/2002_50alt4.jpg Of course it takes a bunch of 3rd graders several minutes to calm down and find the right page in the song book: http://www.wajsman.com/2002_50alt5.jpg But finally they get going: http://www.wajsman.com/2002_50alt6.jpg All the alternates taken with Bessa R2 on Fuji Neopan 1600 developed in XTOL 1+3; the first four with the 35mm Summilux ASPH, and the last two with the 50mm Summilux.
