The Canon empire is not well loved as that organization tends to do things on it's own. It is an interesting fact that everyone talked about their price being forced down after the Kodak announcement but it hasn't happened. All the dealers in my end of the world are selling more than they can get with allocation times stretching out pretty far. Who seem to be buying the camera are all the medium format studio shooters. Showcase, one of the local pro shops, won't take trades on medium format anymore. As to Austin's comments about the poorer performance of the Kodak chip, Canon is using their proprietary CMOS technology which allegedly has lower noise levels. Also, reading between the lines, the photo crowd who make "fine art" and the nature guys seem to only make comments about the D60 and the 1Ds and not the comparable Nikon offerings. I have excluded the paid endorsers like Moose who rarely have anything bad to say about their sponsors. Last, I had the opportunity to play with a D100 a few days ago. I thought that I had set it up for max res and least compression outside of RAW and the images I pulled off didn't do a thing for me resolution or sharpness wise. How much manipulation in PS do you digital guys have to do to pull out decent images? Don dorysrus@mindspirng.com - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
