I have been a subscriber since I was a 19-year old economics major in Denmark, and it has since followed me faithfully to the US, Belgium, Switzerland, always delivering hard-headed analysis, well written, and mercifully free of the celebrity and lifestyle filler that takes up large portions of Time, Newsweek and the other weekly news magazines. Left wing? The Economist endorsed GWB in 2000, it is pro-American in its editorials almost to the point of irritation, and generally advocates market solutions to all social problems. Just about the only "left wing" position it takes is its support for abolition of the monarchy, but one suspects that this particular position is part of its plan to turn the UK into the 51st state of the US. If The Economist is left wing, then I'd like to see what that person would consider a right wing publication--the KKK newsletter or some such?
