The .58 finder is my personal favourite too.  I use the 75 on it without a
magnifier, and as long as it's stopped down to, say, 2.8 it works just
fine.  At 2.0 or 1.4 the magnifier would be a good idea.  I had the 1.25x
as well for a while, but never used it seriously because I had a higher-mag
body.  It would work very well in the setup you're contemplating - you
really won't need to mount it unless you're shooting available light with
the 75.
