I did gently pull on the left side and it did appear to be tight. This also brings up the fact as to how it would move up and down on the right, but still be tight on the left? Is the top plate held in place by only the one screw at the twelve o'clock position on the lens mounting ring? Are Leica's tolerances now so loose that this is possible just from one loose screw? This may explain the up and down motion, but what about the front to back play? That would mean that even if you did tighten up the screw, there would still be a small gap between the front and back for dust and moisture to enter. I am beginning to wonder if this top plate had been switched out with another camera altogether and was not even the original one that was on it when it left the factory.
