(Not a snowboarder, mind you--that's the other chick--I'm the motorcycling chick!) ... Maybe I haven't been around men's locker rooms long enough (never, thankyaverymuch) to understand how the banter system works, but why is it that feel-good comments and expressions of gratitude have to be posted off-list, in private, where no one can see them, when nasty and insulting comments are always displayed in the open, so that everyone is treated to the flogging? It always puzzles me. And it always feels bad, even when I'm not the intended recipient (never mind how bad it feels when I am ... then I lose sleep over it, but that's another story). Just my 3 cents worth. ;-) KM - -----Original Message----- From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us]On Behalf Of Martin Howard Sent: Friday, February 07, 2003 6:17 PM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: Re: [Leica] was Paying Job - now netiquette George Lottermoser wrote: > When ever some one says nice things, I always feel a need to > acknowlege the complement; while at > the same time feeling foolish wasting band width with one or two word > responses. > > What's the netiquette in this regard? A private message to whomever sent the compliment would allow you to to do the one, without risking the other.
