Well, I AM a fairly decent draftsman, but, then, I was trained by my
father, who was a REALLY good draftsman.

But your life proves my point. George:  you have the basic knowledge to
repair a Leica M or Leicaflex with no more than several many attempts to
make it work.  At least, you HAVE access to the gear:  all I have is a Unimat!

And let this be a warning:  have you Dad teach you how to use his gear
before it's too late.
