"I have alway considered the 28 to be an odd choice, a compromise that does not quite satisfy; like taking a sandwich to a banquet." - ----- Prior to the arrival of the 28 Summicron for the M I shared your culinary outlook. However, since acquiring that lens, the 28 shares the "normal" designaton with my 35 Summilux ASPH, and probably gets even more use than the Summilux. I have found that rather than being an unsatisfactory compromise, the 28 offers the best of both worlds - if held carefully, relatively normal perspective while providing a wide view, while it can also provide distortion if one wants it. Now I find the 24 to be another matter - it's often too wide a view, and often not wide enough. ;-) B.
